Arrest Made in October 2025 Murder

On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit detectives arrested 20-year-old Jamari Wyche.


On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, District 1 patrol officers responded to a local hospital after a man, later identified as 24-year-old Javaris Perkins, had been dropped off with a gunshot wound to his chest. Perkins died from his injuries.

JSO's Homicide Unit detectives used every investigative tool available to dig into the case. Ultimately, detectives identified Jamari Wyche as the gunman.

Wyche was arrested in an unrelated armed robbery case less than two weeks after Perkins passed away. Wyche has been in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail) since Monday, October 13, 2025.

On Wednesday, September 2nd, JSO detectives arrested Wyche for Perkins’ murder.
