On Friday, August 22, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) District 1 patrol officers responded to reports of a fight at a home on West 18th Street near North Davis Street in the Hogan’s Creek area.
When officers arrived, witnesses told them the victim, the suspect, and another person. might be inside the home. Officers tried to enter the house, but after multiple unsuccessful attempts, patrol officers called in JSO's SWAT Team for assistance. Once they were inside the home, officers found 68-year-old James Fisher; he died inside the home.
Detectives with JSO's Homicide Unit launched an immediate investigation, quickly identifying Monae Woodward Boone, 26, as the suspect. Woodward Boone is now in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail), facing charges for Fisher’s murder.
