Last week, members from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Vice Unit and Street Level Narcotics detectives were en route to serve a warrant when they witnessed the aftermath of a serious two-vehicle crash where an SUV had flipped over on Collins Road near Shindler Drive.
Although the warrant was important, the detectives didn’t hesitate to stop and help. They quickly worked to remove the two occupants trapped inside the overturned vehicle. JSO Patrol Medic Brooke Mallory, who was assigned to the warrant detail for safety, used her medical training to assist the victims.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue (JFRD) arrived shortly after to provide additional treatment to the couple, who suffered lacerations and other injuries.
Detectives continued on and were able to serve the warrant after.
Without seat belts and the quick actions of first responders, this situation could have ended much worse. Citizens are reminded to please slow down, stay alert, and avoid distractions while driving.
