The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has received multiple complaints about Tipsy, a bar off Edgewood Avenue. Those complaints included the bar serving alcohol to minors, serving after 2 a.m., and violence happening at the bar. Officers have responded to two shootings as well
as numerous other disturbances at the bar in recent months.
Over the weekend, the JSO Vice Unit, along with the Narcotics and Community Problem Response Units, Code Enforcement, the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (ABT), and the Fire Marshal went to Tipsy to crack down.
Saturday night, as hundreds of people were still there, officers watched three suspects selling alcohol past the 2 a.m. legal cutoff time. Officers issued criminal citations to them. ABT conducted its own investigation into other reported violations.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will continue to work with partnering agencies to ensure businesses in Jacksonville are doing everything they can to operate within the law and keep patrons safe.
