Detectives arrested Donald Rentfrow Jr., 44, the morning of Tuesday, November 4, 2025, after he shot and killed a man in the Mandarin area Monday night.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, District 3 patrol officers responded to a shooting on Rustic Green Court. When they arrived, they found 43-year-old Stephen Shahly in the garage; he had been shot and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit detectives launched their investigation, interviewing witnesses and reviewing video surveillance footage. Using all the investigative tools available to them, detectives identified Rentfrow as the gunman. Investigators along with JSO's SWAT Team served a search warrant on his home early Tuesday morning.
Rentfrow was taken into custody, interviewed and ultimately arrested. He is currently behind bars in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail).
