On Saturday, December 20, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) patrol officers responded to a rental home on Arlingwood Avenue in Arlington after five young people were shot during a party.
Investigators determined the home was being rented short-term for the event when an argument broke out between two groups. During the dispute, a suspect fired multiple rounds, striking five victims. One person was struck multiple times.
All victims were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment and are expected to survive despite serious injuries. Detectives from JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crime Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation, working swiftly to get the dangerous shooter off the street.
Investigators quickly identified 19-year-old Kenshawn Prentice as the suspect and secured an arrest warrant for five counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent.
On the morning of Tuesday, December 23, 2025, members of the JSO SWAT Team and the U.S. Marshals Task Force located Prentice at a home on Sibbald Road on the Northside, surrounding the house and taking him into custody.
Prentice is being booked into the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail) and will spend the holidays behind bars following his act of violence, which could have easily left multiple people dead.
