Hugh Perry, 55, is serving a 30-year prison sentence after he sexually assaulted a woman nearly four years ago. Now, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Special Assault Unit detectives want to know if he assaulted other women.
JSO's investigation began in February 2022. Detectives learned the woman had been out the night before in Jacksonville Beach but woke up the next day unsure of how she got home. The woman reported what happened to her through the Women’s Center SAFE Program. Through a forensic analysis of the woman’s medical exam and investigative tools, JSO detectives determined Perry had assaulted her.
Perry was accused of a similar crime in 2013. Additionally, in 2023, Perry was suspected of drugging another woman’s drink and stealing her belongings. This happened while he was on release ahead of his trial for the 2022 assault.
A jury convicted Perry of sexual battery in September of this year. He is behind bars, serving 30 years.
