Quick Arrest Made in Atlantic Beach Stabbing

Detectives have arrested 72-year-old Stephen Perez-Guerra after he stabbed and killed a man in Atlantic Beach on Tuesday.


On Tuesday, July 7, just after 9 p.m., Atlantic Beach Police Department (ABPD) officers responded to Rose Avenue near Mayport Road and found 49-year-old Mickey Jo Guile, lying in a back bedroom. Guile was rushed to the hospital, but sadly he passed away.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide and Crime Scene Unit detectives began an investigation in cooperation with ABPD and the State Attorney’s Office. Through investigative efforts, it was determined that Perez-Guerra was the suspect.

Detectives arrested Perez-Guerra on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 for Second Degree Murder. He is now behind bars in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail).
