A 41-year-old man is facing charges after he used an online site to solicit who he thought were teenage girls for sex. It marks the latest arrest in Operation Checkmate, a multi-day operation targeting those using the Internet to solicit children for sex.
Jermaine Lonon used a website and chatted with two young teenage girls, soliciting them for sex even after they told him how old they were. The "teen girls" were actually highly trained undercover detectives. While Lonon did not travel to meet either teen, he still committed a crime by soliciting them. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) detectives continued to work and received a warrant for his arrest after the operation ended.
On Friday, July 10, 2026, the U.S. Marshals Task Force picked Lonon up from his apartment on the Westside. With Lonon’s arrest, it brings the total to 31 men arrested during the operation.
Anyone who suspects someone is trying to lure a child online is asked to notify the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by calling
1.800.THE.LOST.
