On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, District 2 patrol officers responded to a call on Arlington Road North in reference to a traffic fatality. When they arrived, they found 13-year-old Genesis Webber; she sadly died at the scene. Surveillance footage from the area showed a truck
veering off the road, hitting Genesis on the sidewalk, crashing through a chain-link fence, and continuing on.
Detectives from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Traffic Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation. They discovered evidence at the scene which quickly led them to naming Andre Myers, 54, as the suspect.
Through a coordinated and concentrated effort with detectives along with members from JSO's Crime Analysis Unit and Real Time Crime Center they were able to track the vehicle and learn the suspect’s movements throughout the day. Detectives discovered Myers was out on bond on felony charges and wearing an ankle monitor which led JSO's Department of Corrections personnel to join in the investigation by providing locations where Myers frequents.
Late Wednesday, October 1st, District 2 patrol officers located Myers asleep inside his truck. Officers arrested him; he is now behind bars at the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail).
