A Jacksonville woman is behind bars charged with murder for stabbing and killing another woman outside a convenience store last week.
On Thursday, July 23, 2026, District 5 patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing and found 41-year-old Yolanda Haynes with severe injuries. Despite attempts to save her, Haynes died at a local hospital.
Officers quickly identified Brittany McLean as Haynes’ attacker and took her into custody on charges of Aggravated Battery and Tampering with Evidence. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit detectives took over the investigation and, using McLean’s statement, witness statements, and physical evidence developed probable cause to arrest McLean for Haynes’ murder.
On Friday, July 24, 2026, detectives arrested McLean for Murder. She continues to be held in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail) as she awaits a court appearance.
