On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, District 3 patrol officers responded to a shooting on Southside Boulevard. The victim, 38-year-old Kenneth Mobley, Jr., had been shot in the chest in a restaurant parking lot. Rescue rushed him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Mobley was a father; he was just days away from celebrating his 39th birthday.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit detectives began their investigation immediately. Detectives interviewed witnesses and carefully examined evidence to identify the suspect: 24-year-old Josiah Luis Martinez.
On Friday, July 25, 2025, an arrest warrant was issued for Martinez. He was taken into custody with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force on Monday, July 28, 2025, and is now behind bars in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail), facing a Murder charge.
