Julius Lindo, 49, was arrested Sunday afternoon for Murder after he intentionally set a Springfield house on fire.
Just before midnight on Friday, February 20, 2026, District 1 patrol officers responded to assist the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department with a house fire. When the fire was extinguished, officers discovered 62-year-old Willie Haywood Jr. had passed away in the home. Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit and the State Fire Marshal began an investigation.
After interviewing multiple witnesses, detectives, working in cooperation with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, determined Lindo intentionally set the home on fire.
JSO's Homicide Unit detectives coordinated with the District 1 Bike Unit officers to locate Lindo. After finding and interviewing him, detectives arrested Lindo for Murder, Arson, and eight counts of Attempted Murder, one for every person who was inside the house when he set it on fire.
