Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Detectives arrested 31-year-old Avery Garrison on Saturday, January 31, 2026, after he killed his mother in the Hidden Hills area.
On Friday, January 30, 2026, District 2 patrol officers responded to a reported battery at a home on Bleinheim Place. When officers arrived, they found Jacqueline Jones-Garrison inside of the home; she had been strangled. Jones-Garrison passed away at the scene.
JSO Homicide Unit detectives launched their investigation. Using all of the tools available to them, detectives identified Garrison, the victim’s son, as the suspect in this incident.
Garrison was arrested on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and is now behind bars in the John E. Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail).
