JSO Introduces a New Investigative Tool
July 21, 2023
During Wednesday's town hall, a new investigative tool was unveiled. ConnectDuval empowers the community to assist the Jacksonville Sheriff Office in investigations.
This tool enables the citizen to provide any potential surveillance video having evidentiary value in a designated area if requested by the Sheriff’s Office.

A prime example of this was an incident involving a missing endangered adult. The victim went missing from his home and fortunately was located almost 48 hours later. What led investigators to the victim was the various homes within the community that had some form of a surveillance system. Officers had to physically canvass the neighborhood, having to go door-to-door, searching for cameras and reaching out to homeowners. The victim was observed on multiple cameras traveling through the neighborhood which ultimately led investigators to the specific area where he was later located.

ConnectDuval would have significantly expedited this search process, reducing hours of work conducted by our investigators and leading them to locate the victim sooner. This resource empowers citizens to play an active role in keeping those around us safe and taking the front line in making Jacksonville a safer place.

It is important to note that citizens, once they have registered with the program, have control over what is provided to the Sheriff’s Office. If your assistance is needed due to an incident near your location, you will be notified via email. This tool does not grant access to the Sheriff’s Office to your surveillance systems. This tool only enables investigators to know a camera is present at your location and can easily request video evidence should an incident occur.
