Teen Shot and Killed; Years Later, JSO Detectives Continue to Search for Answers
Almost 10 years ago, someone shot and killed 15-year-old Johnathen Carter near Vista Avenue and Sunderland Road. As his family continues to grieve, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Cold Case detectives continue to search for justice.
On Wednsday, July 6, 2016, around 4:45 a.m., JSO officers found Johnathen lying near the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Investigators believe he got into a fight with someone he knew. The suspect ran from the scene.
To this day, no arrests have been made. Detectives have never stopped working on this case. They are using new forensic technology to take a fresh look at the case, hoping it will uncover details that may have been missed.
