Five Pounds of Marijuana, Guns Seized in Community Problem Response Unit Investigation

A recent investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Community Problem Response (CPR) Unit led to the seizure of more than five pounds of marijuana plus two firearms.


In June, JSO's CPR Unit was monitoring a suspect known for selling marijuana. A full investigation revealed the suspect had received multiple pounds of marijuana to sell. That suspect was also in possession of multiple firearms, including one that had been stolen.

With that information, the CPR Unit made a plan to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect. Jeremiya Capers, 19, was arrested after that stop; JSO's CPR Unit found multiple bags of marijuana in the car.

Detectives then received a search warrant for Capers’ home, where they found two firearms (a rifle and a Glock), 5.12 pounds of Marijuana, 134.9 grams of Mushrooms, $1,150 in cash, and a money counter.
