Randy Campbell, 31, is behind bars in Dallas, Texas, after he shot and killed a woman outside a fitness center in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
District 3 patrol officers responded to a shooting on Sunbeam Road and found the victim, 24-year-old Cherrish Nunley, in the parking lot. Nunley had passed away before officers arrived on scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide, and JSO's Homicide detectives immediately launched an investigation.
Detectives quickly identified Campbell as the suspect and worked alongside the State Attorney’s Office to obtain a warrant for his arrest. The U.S. Marshals Task Force helped track him to Dallas, Texas, where the Dallas Police Department arrested him earlier this week. Campbell will be extradited back to Jacksonville once the appropriate legal process is complete.
This is one of multiple cases that led to
rumors which falsely claimed there was a serial killer in Jacksonville, Florida. Campbell is not a suspect in the other recent homicides in the community. Detectives continue to investigate the other homicides to bring justice to the victims’ families.
