14-Year-Old Arrested for Westside Murder
September 13, 2025
Keyon Byrd, 14, turned himself in yesterday after he shot 18-year-old Marlon Lane earlier this week.

On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, District 4 patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex on Labelle Street on the Westside. They found Lane with multiple gunshot wounds. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Departmetn (JFRD) rushed him to the hospital, but Lane died from his injuries.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit detectives began searching for the person responsible for Lane’s death. Working alongside the Crime Scene Unit and the State Attorney’s Office, detectives identified Byrd as the suspect.

Byrd turned himself in on Friday, September 12, 2025, the same day JSO received the warrant for his arrest.
