Dawud Burritt, 28, is facing multiple charges including murder after he shot and killed one person and injured another Saturday night.
Around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, District 4 patrol officers responded to a shooting at a fast food restaurant on Blanding Boulevard near Collins Road. When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. 18-year-old Matthew Jackson passed away; the other man was rushed to the hospital where he is expected to recover.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide detectives immediately began reviewing the evidence and interviewing those at the scene and quickly identified Burritt as the gunman. He was arrested Sunday morning, and is behind bars in the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County jail).
