Recently, Jason Blount, 52, was arrested for robbery in Orange County, Florida. Upon booking, deputies took his DNA and when entered into the system, it matched unsolved sexual battery cases which occurred in Jacksonville, FL in 2000 and 2002. Now, 25 years after the first crime,
this dangerous predator is being brought to justice.
JSO Special Assault Unit Cold Case Detective Cribbs was already working on the cases and developed enough probable cause to charge Blount with three counts of sexual battery.
The suspect’s method or M.O. was to ambush women outside their homes. One was jogging when he attacked her. While another was leaving her apartment when he dragged her to another location. In a third case, he forced his way into the victim’s apartment.
Detectives have identified an additional victim, who was elderly at the time and is now deceased. And detectives believe there are more victims in Jacksonville, Orlando and potentially beyond. If you know anything, please contact JSO at 904.630.0500 to speak with a detective.
