On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, detectives arrested 47-year-old Thomas Banks after he turned himself in for killing a woman on Christmas Day 2024.
On December 25, 2024, District 6 patrol officers responded to an apartment complex on Dunn Avenue. They found 39-year-old Lisa Santos with a gunshot wound to her chest. She passed away from her injury before she could be taken to a hospital. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Homicide Unit detectives began investigating. After reviewing video footage, statements from witnesses, and other evidence, detectives identified Banks as Santos’ killer.
On Friday, May 22, 2026, detectives received an arrest warrant for Banks. On Tuesday, May 26, Banks turned himself in at JSO's District 3 substation where he was arrested. He is now behind bars at the Duval County jail.
