Traffic and Waterway Impacts Expected During Ironman Jacksonville Event
May 11, 2026
This Saturday, May 16, 2026, Ironman Jacksonville will take place throughout Duval County and parts of St. Johns County.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) will have more than 500 officers working to keep the more than 1,500 competitors safe while they swim, bike and run across Jacksonville.

The race starts at 7:30 a.m. with a 2.4-mile swim in the St. Johns River. Then, racers will trek the 112-mile bike ride through San Marco, the Southside, Nocatee, and Ponte Vedra. The race ends with a 26.2 mile run through downtown and Riverside.

This event will impact both vehicular and water traffic along the race course on Saturday. Citizens are encouraged to review the course maps in advance and plan alternate travel routes and for additional travel time.

Portions of the St. Johns River between Metropolitan Park and Memorial Park will be blocked off from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on event day.

Maps for the event are located on the Ironman Jacksonville website and include turn by turn directions.
