On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) members were called to locate a missing 67-year-old woman in District 6 on the Northside.
Police Service Dog "Ruger" was able to lead JSO detectives in the right direction during the search, and JSO's Missing Persons Unit then located the woman using our specialized technology. She was brought back home safely in less than an hour; had the search gone on any longer, she could have suffered a heat-related injury.
The woman is diagnosed with Dementia and has been reported missing several times in the past. Her family has worked alongside JSO's Missing Person Unit detectives to take advantage of the scent jar and tracker programs, speeding up our search for their loved one.
