On Monday, March 2, 2026, Officers Shawn Crocker and Phil Massicotte responded to River City Marketplace after a toddler was accidentally locked inside a car with the keys inside. The mother immediately called for help, and officers arrived within five minutes.
The toddler had unbuckled himself from his car seat, making it dangerous for the officers to shatter the car window to open the door. Officers used special tools to pop the door open, returning the toddler to his mother in less than 10 minutes.
The heat is already here, and cars can warm up fast, even with the windows cracked. Accidents happen, but when they do, it’s important to call police for help as soon as possible.
