On Saturday, November 1, 2025, around 6 p.m., officers responded to a reported stolen vehicle in the Brentwood area. An officer found the vehicle along Moncrief Road and 13th Street and began to follow it while waiting for other officers to arrive. As they approached MLK Parkway
and a second officer arrived, the stolen vehicle sped off. After a short pursuit, the stolen vehicle went to turn onto Myrtle Avenue, crashing into an officer’s vehicle and hitting a building.
Multiple people bailed out of the stolen vehicle after the crash and began running. One of the officers began pursuing one of the suspects. The officer told the suspect multiple times to stop reaching into his pants, but the suspect did not comply. The officer fired multiple shots, hitting the suspect. Rescue responded and took the suspect to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition.
This is the 15th officer-involved shooting this year for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The officer involved in the shooting is Officer Jacob Cahill.
One officer suffered a broken nose from the crash. The other officers involved in this incident were not hurt.
The State Attorney’s Office is on scene, completing its investigation. Once its investigation is complete, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office will conduct its own investigation.
