Earlier this month, during "Operation: Home for the Holidays," led by the U.S. Marshals, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in coordination with the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force, local, state and federal law enforcement partners located 22 missing children in Northeast
Florida.
JSO's cameras were rolling when detectives found two teenage girls who had been missing for weeks. These two juveniles are now able to get the support they need.
In addition to these operations, JSO has dedicated Missing Persons Unit detectives who work year-round locating children. It doesn’t matter if they’ve been missing for an hour or a year, they won’t stop until they find them.
Citizens are reminded that harboring runaways is a crime. Anyone that knows the location of a child who may be reported missing is asked to please call police or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1.800.THE.LOST.
