Woman Arrested for Animal Cruelty After Great Dane's Death
November 07, 2025
Dawn Lipford, 42, is behind bars after abandoning a Great Dane on the side of a Jacksonville road earlier this week.

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, someone found the dog severely neglected. Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) immediately stepped in to try to save its life, naming the dog Miracle in hopes it would pull through. Sadly, despite expert care, Miracle passed away.

Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) Vice Unit worked tirelessly with ACPS to identify who was responsible for leaving Miracle in such terrible condition. First Coast Crime Stoppers offered a reward of up to $8,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case, thanks to a generous donation, and JSO asked for the public's help.

With that support, numerous tips were received and detectives quickly identified Lipford as the suspect. She was arrested on Friday, November 7, 2025, for felony animal cruelty.

During the investigation, it was also learned that Miracle’s real name is Oak.

Thank you to the entire Jacksonville community for coming together to seek justice for this dog. The partnership with First Coast Crime Stoppers once again shows the power of community and law enforcement working together.
