Bernard McClendon, 18, is one of three facing charges after they stole a vehicle and crashed it into a mattress store on Dunn Avenue over the weekend. A 12-year-old and a 14-year-old are also facing a felony charge for their involvement in this crime.
On the morning of Sunday, October 12, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) District 6 patrol officers responded to the mattress store after a car crashed through the storefront and caught fire. The investigation revealed the car involved had been stolen. The incident was captured on the store’s surveillance camera, showing three people running from the car after the crash.
On Monday night, officers saw three young men running away from a house after officers heard what they believed to be a gun shot. The three matched the description of the three individuals seen on surveillance video. After interviewing the trio, officers identified them as the three involved in Sunday’s crash and arrested them.
McClendon, as well as the 12-year-old and the 14-year-old, are each facing a felony charge for their actions.
