Scam Alert: Fake U.S. District Court Notices
This week, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) was alerted that scammers are posing as officers calling citizens about missing jury duty. Not only do they call, but they’ll also text an image similar to the one in the photo.
This is not real. Law enforcement will not call a citizen regarding a warrant for their arrest and demand money. Additionally, the court system won’t call, text, or email asking for payment, Social Security numbers, or banking details.
Citizens who receive one of these messages are reminded to not respond and never send money. When in doubt, hang up and verify with official sources. Call the local Clerk of Courts or JSO’s non-emergency line at 904.630.0500.
