Officer-Involved Shooting on Jacksonville's Northside; Two Officers Injured
July 16, 2025
Just after 11 p.m., on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, patrol officers responded to the 12500 block of Brahma Bull Circle following a call for assistance from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD).

Upon arrival, they approached a residence and heard loud frantic screaming from two individuals - a male and a female. As they approached a locked bedroom door inside the residence, they identified this room to be the location where the screaming was coming from and had to force their way in. Upon kicking the door in, they observed a male on top of a female pulling her hair as she held and appeared to be shielding a child. The officers gave several commands for the male to release the female and back away, but he refused and continued to aggressively attack her. The officers used their conducted energy weapon (CEW), or Taser which allowed the female time to escape harm's way with the child.

The officers disengaged the subject and began communicating with him in attempts to get him to come out of the bedroom. This communication continued for more than 30 minutes as they attempted to safely get him into custody.

At a certain point, the suspect came out of the bedroom, into a larger open room, though he remained verbally combative and taking aggressive postures. As officers attempted to take him into custody, he continued to fight their efforts, and again the suspect was tased. The suspect fought through the effects of the Taser, continuing to aggressively fight officers. As a result of the suspect's actions, two police officers and a police sergeant ultimately engaged the suspect with their issued firearms and shot the suspect.

The suspect was transported to a local medical facility for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. The suspect's identity was not immediately available.

Officers involved were treated for injuries as a result of the incident.

JSO's Cold Case Detectives responded to conduct their initial investigation alongside the State Attorney's Office who will conduct an independent investigation.
