On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office received a tip regarding a threat made on social media. The tip was passed along to JSO's Intelligence Unit where detectives investigated the account which made the comment connecting it to 26-year-old Zachary Degross.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, detectives went to Degross’ home, and he willingly went with detectives to be interviewed about the post. After his interview, Degross was arrested for Sending Written Threats to Conduct an Act of Terrorism, a second-degree felony. Degross was booked into the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility (Duval County Jail) on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office takes every threat seriously. Citizens who see a threat online about harming others are asked to report it to police immediately.
