JSO Releases Critical Incident Briefing for the Officer-Involved Shooting on May 4th
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), along with the State Attorney's Office, continue the investigation into the officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025, in the Normandy Boulevard area on the city's Westside.
Aligning with Sheriff Waters’ continuing commitment to openness and transparency, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is releasing this Critical Incident Briefing related to the incident. The video will disclose currently available information related to the shooting and the events that led up to it.
The State Attorney’s Office will independently review the incident to assess the legality of the officer’s actions. Once that is complete, JSO will conduct an internal review to ensure the officer acted within policy. Then, a Response to Resistance Board will convene, and the findings will be submitted to the Sheriff for final review. JSO is releasing this in the interest of transparency. Conclusions on the incident remain pending.
