On Friday, August 1, 2025, the the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) will once again host its annual Safety Fair at The Avenues located at 10300 Southside Boulevard. This free, family event will take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Members of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Sheriff's Watch, and health & public safety agencies will present safety exhibits, demonstrations and have informational displays on hand for attendees to view while walking through the first floor of the mall and in the parking garage.
In addition to learning about the various areas of JSO and seeing police vehicles used in the field, citizens will have the opportunity to turn in their unused or outdated medications to JSO detectives for proper disposal. Citizens that are unable to drop off medications at the Safety Fair can bring them to the
collection box at the Forsyth Street entrance of the Police Memorial Building (501 E. Bay Street), seven days a week.
This event is also an opportunity to:
- Meet with JSO Recruiters regarding job opportunities at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office;
- Learn more about Sheriff's Watch, JSO's citizen engagement program;
- See police vehicles (cars, motorcycles, helicopter, SWAT vehicles, etc.);
- Learn about firearm safety, safety around water, emergency planning, etc.;
- Register for various safety programs;
- Meet Smokey Bear;
- Visit information displays from community partners such as First Coast YMCA, Red Cross, UF Health TraumaOne and more!
