The members of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office continue to work a case until every person responsible for the crime is behind bars. In the murder of 14-year-old Micah Thomas, 10 people now face charges for the senseless act of violence.

On Monday, January 1, 2024, patrol officers arrived to a home in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood and found Thomas dead inside. An autopsy conducted by the Medical Examiner determined Thomas' cause of death was homicide.

This month, 18-year-old Quanterria Bennett was arrested. She now faces charges for her role in Thomas’ death.
Nine others face charges:
  • Isaiah Conner (24)
  • Lamaya Gillis (21)
  • Rian Brown (17)
  • J’Nethen Jackson (21)
  • William Middleton (24)
  • Antonio Thornton (20)
  • Roderick Brunson (19)
  • Emanuel Cuff (24)
  • Nailah Douglas (30)

Thomas’ mother said this to a local news outlet about the 10 arrests: "My family and I would like to thank Detective Henry Rivers for his incredible dedication, hard work and relentless pursuit of justice for my son, Micah Thomas’ case. Your effort led to 10 arrests, and we’re truly grateful.”

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will continue to work with the State Attorney’s Office to make sure all 10 people charged in Thomas’ death are held accountable for their actions.
