JSO Commemorates Important Anniversary with New Specialty Badge
January 04, 2022
In 2022, you may see officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office wearing a new badge. This distinctive badge commemorates the 200th anniversary of the founding of Jacksonville and the area’s first Sheriff.

In 1822, land formerly known as Cowford, was donated and renamed Jacksonville after the territory’s first provisional governor, Andrew Jackson. In that same year, James Dell was appointed as the first Sheriff of Jacksonville.

This is an official Jacksonville Sheriff's Office badge that personnel were given the opportunity to purchase and they may be worn throughout 2022.
