September 12, 2025 - The second episode of JSO's official podcast, "Inside JSO" recognizes some of the women serving in the agency: Director Jennifer Short (Department of Police Services), Detective Bethany Senterfitt (Special Assault Unit), and Officer Allie Ford (Behavioral Crisis Response Unit).
Information About Open Carry in Florida
September 11, 2025 - On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Florida’s First District Court of Appeal ruled that the state’s Open Carry Ban (Florida Statute 790.053) is unconstitutional. The Court found that banning the open carry of firearms conflicts with the Second Amendment.
Sex Offender Back Behind Bars for Online Crimes
September 08, 2025 - Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) detectives have arrested 56-year-old David Binz. This convicted sex offender is now facing eight felonies related to sex offender requirement violations. Detectives continue to investigate to determine if more charges are warranted.
21-Year-Old Charged in 7-Year-Old's Murder Arrested for Second Murder Case
September 06, 2025 - Keith Johnson, 21, is now facing a second murder charge. He is one of the six young men facing murder charges for the death of 7-year-old Breon Allen earlier this year.
