FROM SERVING THE NATION TO PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITY

Upon transitioning from the Armed Services, becoming a member of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) is a great option for individuals who are looking to use their military skills and continue their services in our community, while still maintaining the paramilitary environment.

If you have four or more years of active duty service, you qualify to apply for a job as a police officer. If you don't meet the requirements to become a police officer or are interested in another role, we encourage you to explore the other opportunities available at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

2025 VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was recognized as a 5-Star Employer in the 2025 VETS Indexes Employer Awards - one of the program's highest distinctions. JSO earned this recognition due to its strong commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and supporting veterans and the military-connected community.

DOD SKILLBRIDGE CONNECTS RETIRING SERVICE MEMBERS TO NEW OPPORTUNITIES
DOD SkillBridge
JSO proudly participates in the DOD SkillBridge Program, offering transitioning and retiring service members the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and industry-specific training as they prepare for civilian careers.

While enrolled in the SkillBridge program, participants continue to receive their military pay and benefits from the Department of Defense, allowing them to focus fully on their civilian career development.

Eligible service members must have 180 days or fewer remaining before separation and must have served at least 180 consecutive days on active duty. If you meet these criteria, you may qualify for a SkillBridge internship with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
