JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 27, 2017) - Effective Saturday, July 1, 2017 the following staff changes and appointments will become effective at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office:
 
  • Michael Bruno, currently serving as Director of Corrections, will move to Director of Patrol and Enforcement.
  • Tammy Morris, a 26-year corrections professional, is appointed Director of Corrections, a move from her current appointed position as Chief of Jails.
  • Appointed to the Chief of Jails position is Joel Carter, currently Assistant Chief of Jail Services, and also a 26 year corrections professional.

Jacksonville, FL (June 26, 2017) - On Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:34 a.m., Suntrust Bank located at 11567 San Jose Boulevard was robbed. The suspect fled in a blue crossover style vehicle. The attached pictures were captured from the surveillance footage at the bank.

Jacksonville, FL (June 26, 2017) - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify the two individuals in the attached photos. They are wanted for committing multiple auto burglaries in the Captiva Bluff neighborhood on the Northside. They are on surveillance pulling door handles of unlocked vehicles, rummaging through vehicles, and taking whatever they can find. The suspects were last seen in a white Ford F150.

JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 21, 2017) - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for suspect Anthony Finch in reference to a recent murder investigation. He has an outstanding warrant for Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is considered armed and dangerous

JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 21, 2017) - At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 a Chinese Food delivery driver was given a delivery order for a residence on W. Arancio Drive on the Westside of Jacksonville. When the driver arrived he parked his vehicle in the driveway in front of the house and proceeded to the front door of the residence with the food.

JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 24, 2017) - UPDATE: All three escaped inmates were located in the 7200 block of S. Old Kings Road.  They have been charged with escape and felony battery.

JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 16, 2017) - Between May 18, 2017 and June 16, 2017 four bank robberies have been reported in the Jacksonville area that appear to be related. In each incident, the suspect enters the business wearing a hat and sunglasses. The suspect approaches the teller, produces a black semi-automatic handgun and makes demands for money. Once the suspect receives the money, he flees the area on foot.

JACKSONVILLE, FL (June 15, 2017) - Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Director of Services Tony Davis represented the agency at a community meeting about Police Body Worn Cameras on Thursday, June 15, 2017. The agency was invited by Bishop Lorenzo Hall, Sr. of El-Beth-El Development Center as the congregation hosted elected leaders, civic and religious leaders, and citizens to discuss the status of the program and the upcoming technical pilot.

When you complete this report (and after it is reviewed and approved by a police officer), you will be able to print a free copy of the report. The crime you are reporting online can not involve a known suspect.

Crime Statistics As a service to the public, JSO provides crime incident information with a mapping program. With prompting from the user, the information provided will show the number of police reports written for selected crimes, within a selected geographical area, or specific address or location. The type of crime and number of offenses will be presented in a table format, with insightful demographic information, such as the time of day the crime occurred. This information is not intended to serve as official crime data.

Hearing Impaired Assistance
Emergency Services
Members of the hearing impaired community can access 9-1-1 using a TTY phone system. TTY phones have special tones that the receiving units in the JSO Communications Center translate into text. All JSO dispatchers are trained to assist customers who use TTY equipment. Notice Under the Americans With Disabilities Act* 

Assistance "Out in the Field"
The JSO uses DEAF LINK to assist the deaf and hearing impaired community. If a deaf or hearing impaired citizen stops a police officer to report a crime or have a conversation, and cannot communicate, the citizen can be brought to the nearest substation (or to the Police Memorial Building or the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.) Deaf Link allows immediate communication with a sign language interpreter through the computer (24 hours a day, seven days a week).
