FROM THE FRONT LINE TO THE THIN BLUE LINE
As a veteran, you already know what it means to "live with honor." Now join our team and "work for justice."
Upon transitioning from the Armed Services, becoming a member of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) is a great option for individuals who are looking to use their military skills and continue their services in our community, while still maintaining the paramilitary environment.
VETERANS UNDERSTAND THE PRIVILEGE OF SERVING
Your time serving our country uniquely qualifies you to join our team. If you have four or more years of active duty service, you qualify to apply for a job as a
police officer. You can look forward to continuing to make an impact on others while wearing a uniform and working towards a new mission.
If you don't meet the requirements to become a police officer or are interested in another role, we encourage you to explore the
other opportunities available at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
KEEP YOUR G.I. BILL
Recruits attend the police academy located at the
Northeast Florida Criminal Justice Training Center on the Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) North Campus. The cost of tuition is paid for by JSO and you also receive a full salary while attending the academy. This means your hard-earned educational benefits under the G.I. Bill are yours to keep.
JOIN A TEAM THAT UNDERSTANDS
Leaving the military and transitioning into civilian life can be a stressful and unknown experience. To help veterans through this process, JSO has a dedicated military veteran recruiter who also acts as a liaison to all veterans who choose to apply. With the resources and military specific knowledge that our veteran recruiter brings to the table, your transition into a career with JSO will be a seamless and enjoyable experience.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is extremely proud to be an agency dedicated to hiring our Nation's veterans. Our mission is to demonstrate a solid commitment in providing veterans with the opportunity to build a new, life-long career.
