A career as a Court Bailiff Officer is more than a job, it is an excellent career path for those who want to protect others and develop a long lasting career in law enforcement. Court Bailiff Officers primarily provide protection and maintain order in the courthouse (for judges, attorneys, witnesses, jurors, prisoners in custody, defendants on bond and the general public.) This exciting career requires that the successful candidate have an excellent understanding of human behavior and those factors which influence or cause behavioral changes. The applicant must be able to assess environmental factors, determine how they will affect the security and safety of the courtroom, and take appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be at least 21-years of age
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Be in good physical condition.
  • Must be able to run a mile in under 12 minutes
  • Be of good moral character
  • TATTOOS:  
    • Tattoos are NOT permitted on the face or neck (if visible while wearing a collared shirt).
    • One visible tattoo on each hand, not to exceed one inch in measurement in all directions is permitted. 
    • One ring band tattoo is permitted on each hand.
    • Tattoos behind the ear cannot exceed one inch in measurement in all directions and cannot extend forward of the ear lobe. 
    • Any visible tattoo (e.g., on the hand, behind the ear) will not be permitted if deemed unacceptable.
  • NOT HAVE received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces
  • NOT HAVE been convicted of any felony
  • NOT HAVE been convicted of a misdemeanor involving false statement, perjury or domestic violence
  • MUST HAVE a Basic Law Enforcement or Corrections Training Certification issued by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. A copy of state exam test score must be submitted.
    • Out-of-state certified applicants contact Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) at 1.850.410.8600 to obtain certification transfer information.
IN ADDITION, the following areas may result in applicants being suspended from the hiring process: credit history including bankruptcy and collections; past drug use; inappropriate social media; driving history, work history; criminal activity and associations with known criminals; and inappropriate tattoos.

  • $22.51 per hour
*All salaries listed above are effective October 1, 2023. Paycheck calculations are based on 26 pay periods and before any taxes or deductions.
