Telecommunicators Week 2017

Thank you to JSO's Communications Center Employees

JACKSONVILLE, FL (April 12, 2017) - Each year the second full week of April is designated as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to recognize the men and women who serve in this role. Some people call them Emergency Operators; some call them Police Emergency Communications Officers; we just think of them as the “lifeline between people in need and our first responders.”

They are there to answer the call, day and night, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Communications Center we salute you!

- In 2016, 1,537,376 telephone calls were received in Jacksonville’s 9-1-1 Center. This was an increase of 24,108 calls from the 1,513,268 received in 2015. This represents a 1.6% increase in call volume.

- Of that number, 805,097 calls were received via the EMERGENCY 9-1-1 line, and 732,279 calls received on the non-emergency number, 630-0500.

Please help us in thanking all of our Dispatchers and 9-1-1 Call Takers! We appreciate all that you do for us at the JSO and for our community.
