The Marine Unit patrols 139 square miles of inland waterways and conducts boat inspections, cites offenders for waterway violations, and provides safe boating seminars, speakers and inspections.

The members of the unit continue efforts in boater safety education by conducting boating safety classes and participating in boater safety programs at the Jacksonville Boat Show and other venues. They also perform boater safety inspections on the waterways as well as at the boat ramps around the county each year.

The Marine Unit also manages the Sheriff's Watch - River program. This program is a crime prevention and safety program for the waterways. Please click here to learn more.
